Michael Phelps Proves You Can Eat + Drink Anything & Still Be Thin

Michael Phelps has won 14 Gold Olympic medals and is considered the best swimmer of all time. He is also known to eat a lot. In fact, in an interview with 60 Minutes he told Anderson Cooper he eats and drinks about 8,000 to 10,000 calories a day, when he is training.

Does Michael Phelps have a super metabolism? No. It is simple math.

Michael Phelp’s job involves swimming 8 hours a day. Each hour of swimming burns around 937 calories. Therefore, 938 calories x 8hrs = 7,504 calories burned in one day. In addition, he also burns an additional 2,500 calories just from normal activities, breathing, heart pumping blood, etc.. So for each day Michael Phelp trains he burns 7,504 + 2,500 = 10,004 calories.

There is no magic to how Michael can Eat + Drink ≈ Anything and stay thin. He eats 10,000 calories a day and he burns 10,000 calories a day.
