Media Interviews:

My name is Tyler, I’m 23 years old, 6 feet and 2 inches tall, and I didn’t know how much I weighed. I didn’t own a scale that had the structural integrity to weigh me (most scales have a 300lb limit).  I was considered by the American government’s health standards to be morbidly obese. I eventually found out I weighed 344 pounds.

My weight was literally off any Body Mass Index (BMI) chart I could find.

I started my new healthy lifestyle on January 2009. A life where I can take my shirt off at the beach.  A life where I’m free to sit in a normal chair without it squeaking for its poor little life. A life where I can walk down my driveway without being winded.  A life where I can see my daughter marry her high school sweetheart.

A life where I’m not extremely obese.

A year later I had lost 125 pounds.

I did not go on a diet or exercise program, I transitioned into a healthy lifestyle.

What’s the difference?

Diet/Exercise Program
When you go on a diet you only eat certain foods and you eliminate pretty much everything else.  You go to the gym like a caged hamster every day. You hate the rules, restrictions and the boredom.

With a healthy lifestyle, I ate foods that I couldn’t when I was dieting. The old diets eliminated them, my new healthy lifestyle does not. I limit foods now, but if I still want a cheeseburger, or chicken wings and fries, I’m going to have them.

I started living a healthy lifestyle, not forcing diet and exercise into a bad one. That’s is how I was able to lose 125 pounds by eating and drinking anything I wanted.

If you want to check out all that I have accomplished go to 344pounds.com.  This is a blog that helped me do three things.  For starters, I used it to keep track of my weight loss journey;  one day, when she’s old enough, I’ll show it to my daughter and tell her that “this saved daddy.”  Secondly, I wanted to help others who are trying to lose weight;  I want people to learn from my successes, as well as my failures.

Lastly, 344pounds.com is a way to keep myself personally accountable to my friends and family (who know about this blog), as well as complete strangers.  I know I have people counting on me this time and watching my every move;  and even though I’ve let myself down with multiple diets before, I won’t let everyone who knows me, cares for me, and loves me down.
