Drink Anything

DrinkAnything

Regular • Diet • Liquor…

Remember when you were a kid and could drink regular Coke, Mountain Dew, Sprite, Pepsi, etc? You were able to drink 1 or 2 regular sodas and still you were thin. Of course, now you drink Diet Coke and you gain weight. What gives?

Regular: Most diets tell you to avoid regular drinks because regular drinks are high calorie and have no nutritional value. However, we still want our regular Coke or Dr. Pepper or Snapple. Are regular sodas and drinks that bad? Well, if you drink 3 cans of regular soda a day then you are consuming about 330 calories a day. Those 330 calories have no protein or fat and are mostly carbs. But it is still only 330 calories, so those three cans are not going to make you fat. If you want the three cans of regular soda, then have the three, four maybe even five cans of regular soda. On Eat + Drink ≈ Anything you will be able to drink regular sodas and drinks, but you will get to the point that you will not really want them.

Liquor: Most diets also tell you to avoid alcohol. The problem is that alcoholic drinks are fun, sure they can be dangerous, but they are still fun. Alcohol is a part of many social and work functions and it will be easiest if you are able to handle alcohol instead of fearing it. Just like soda, one beer will not make you fat. One regular beer is only about 150 calories. One glass of wine about 85 calories. One Vodka tonic about 160 calories. All of these drinks are roughly the same calories. Therefore, three beers are only 450 calories. Six beers would be 900 calories, still not enough to gain a pound. To gain one pound you would have to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner and then drink about 23 cans of beer all in one day in order to gain 1 pound. Of course if you are drinking 23 cans of beer in one night, you have other problems to worry about than watching your weight.

Diet: Diet drinks are great because you get to have your drink of choice without all of the calories. Diet Coke, Diet Dr. Pepper, Diet Sprite all have zero calories. Some people think diet drinks taste bad and that might be so, but they are calorie free. Light beer still has about 1/2 – 1/3 less calories than regular beer which means you can have more beer. Six cans of Bud Light are only 660 calories. Six Vodka & Diet Red Bull only have 456 calories–that is less than a sausage & biscuit breakfast sandwich. Six vodka drinks should be more than enough for most people. To gain one pound you would again have to drink about 23 Vodka & Diet Red Bull drinks–impossible for most people. If you like soda or liquor and want to drink as much of this stuff as possible then diet might be the way to go.
